INFORMATION

 

The Tech Talk Series is a tripartite collaboration between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), the Electronic Engineering Technical Division (eETD) of the Institute of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Dream Catcher Consultancy Sdn. Bhd.


The series aim to provide technology updates and development trends to the local engineering and academic community by speakers from industry and academia.

It started in 2010 and is usually held in USM campus.

 

OBJECTIVES


  1. To provide a platform for discourse on the latest technology updates and development trends to the local engineering and academic communities.
  2. To provide technical networking platform among professional engineers, academia, students and industry.
  3. To encourage sharing of ideas and technical discussions between the academia & industry.

 

ACTIVITIES IN 2010


To-date, the eight talks that were conducted were well received by the industry: 

  1. Power Management for Mobile Devices – Low Power System Architecture by Prof. Ng Wai Tung from University of Toronto, Canada on 28th January 2010.
  2. Apple iPhone Platform: Overview and Application Development by Mr. Percy Chen on 25th March 2010.
  3. Current Trends of Low Voltage Analog Design for Wireless Applications by Prof.  Sudhanshu S. Jamuar, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India (presently attached to Universiti Malaya) on 18 June 2010.
  4. ESD Protection on Systems by Dr Steven H. Voldman, Inventor and ESD expert, USA on 27th July 2010.
  5. Micro & Nano-electronics: More than Moore Challenges & Opportunities by Prof. Kees Beenakker, Scientific Director, Delft Institute of Microsystems & Nanoelectronics, The Netherlands on 23rd August 2010.
  6. PCB Modelling Requirements for Personal Computer by Mr. Howard Heck from Intel Corporation, USA on 21st October 2010.
  7. Recent Trends in the Field of Design for Testability by Professor Andrew Richardson, Lancaster University, UK on 26th November 2010.
  8. Core SoC Technologies for Indoor 60 GHz Multi-Gbps Wireless Baseband Receiver by Professor Shye-Jye Jou (Jerry), National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan on 10th December 2010.
