The national strategy has been put into action by numerous government and non-government organisations representing the various economic sectors, as well as education, research, social, and many others, in order to build the necessary infrastructure and human capital to accomplish this aim. There is no doubt that public universities, as much as private universities, have a significant role to play in this process.

As an elite university in Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is now playing a significant role by connecting with all the industry partners and giving their knowledge, experience, skills, and time to this excellent endeavour. Such efforts will undoubtedly have an impact and help in addressing and solving the many problems that are encountered.

As an office that serves as a one-stop referral centre for industries to liaise with the university, we always encourage pragmatic approaches to be applied in ensuring benefits are gained not only by the academic community but also by members of the society.

As communities face more complex challenges, be they social, economic, environmental, or beyond, I think that the collaboration between academics, students, and industry partners at USM can play a significant role by lending their knowledge, expertise, skills, and time to this worthwhile project and initiative align with the slogan, ‘From University With Industry For Community’. Such efforts will undoubtedly have an impact and help in addressing and solving the many problems that are encountered.
