Prof. Dato' Dr. Azlan Amran, is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry & Community Network) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He holds a PhD and MBA in Accounting from Universiti Malaya and began his academic career at USM in 2006. In recognition of his distinguished contributions to higher education, sustainability, and community development, he was conferred the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which carries the title Dato', by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in conjunction with the 85th Official Birthday Celebration of the Governor of Penang on 13 July 2026.

Under his leadership, USM has strengthened its institutional sustainability agenda through the implementation of the Higher Education Institution Sustainability Policy, championing the Whole Institution Approach (WIA) that integrates sustainability across teaching, research, governance, campus operations, industry partnerships, and community engagement. He has also spearheaded strategic collaborations that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainable finance, and responsible innovation.

Prof. Dato' Dr. Azlan serves on several national and international committees, including the Malaysia Integrity Institute, SIRIM, AAM, and ABEST21, and previously served as a Board Member of AACSB International (USA), contributing to global higher education quality assurance and accreditation initiatives.
