USM-Industry Research Matching Grant
The Higher Education Plan 2025–2035 focuses on the importance of innovation, graduate employability, and strengthening strategic linkages between academia and industry. In alignment with these priorities, universities can no longer function in isolation to produce market-relevant graduates or to undertake high-impact research. Meaningful engagement with industry stakeholders is imperative to ensure that academic programmes and research initiatives remain relevant, competitive, and responsive to the dynamic demands of the global landscape.
In line with the aspirations of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) as a Research University, the Division of Industry and Community Network (Bahagian Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat, BJIM) has undertaken strategic initiatives to align the university’s knowledge base, expertise, facilities, and resources with the needs, aspirations, and expectations of industry stakeholders. This effort is intended to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering more impactful, sustainable collaborations at the state, national, regional, and international levels.
One such initiative is the USM–Industry Research Matching Grant, established to facilitate collaborative research by exchanging innovative ideas, research outcomes, experience, and technical expertise. This initiative aims to promote synergistic partnerships that generate meaningful solutions and contribute to national and global advancement.
